Study Task 8

Study Task 8 script

SLIDE 1
WHO ARE WE: Y O U R  S P A C E, is a workshop based collective ran by positive art students wanting to make a difference in the disabled community. This foundation is passionate about creating space and opportunities for young adults who want to be creative but are not usually given the chance to express themselves this way.

SLIDE 2
We have assigned roles within the team, and we are also the students that will be running the workshop.

SLIDE 3
OUR ASPIRATION: We are really passionate about erasing the stigma which surrounds young adults with learning difficulties. Which is why the workshop we run is not only about being creative but also provides them the skills to be independent and an opportunity to build a portfolio. But also to generally have fun!

SLIDE 4 + 5
We have created an organised timetable for the 12 week workshop to give them a sense of direction. Within the first 6 weeks we will set a brief each week, exploring different ways of image making: life drawing, 3D making, collaging etc. The rest of the week would be left for them to be independent (with supervision of course)
The rest of the 6 weeks would provide an opportunity to showcase their work and invite charities, art institutes, etc The tickets would then be used for funding materials.

SLIDE 6 + 7
MARKET
TARGET MARKET: young people and adults
Age between college/university, provide safe and social space when in times where they might feel the most isolated
Leeds Learning Disability Week: That would be a good time to hold the exhibition as the foundation would gain more exposure, as well contributing to this week. The exhibition will we better received and recognised during this week.

SLIDE 8
MARKET (since we are a charitable collective, we wouldn’t necessarily be in competition with these existing businesses): it’s an existing market, hence it wouldn’t be difficult to find clients. SENSORY LEEDS: a fun learning space for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues. THROUGH THE MAZE: an organization that works around people with learning disabilities

SLIDE 8
FUNDING
LEEDS INSPIRED PROJECT FUNDING: We are hoping to be funded by leeds council as our collective is a charitable project. We could apply for Leeds Inspired as they tend to fund for art projects that are catered for the better of the community

SLIDE 9
STUDIO SPACE: we have decided for duke studios being a rather cheaper rent with the right length of contract (12 months).
Capacity up to 35, 12” projector, Wifi included, disabled access

SLIDE 10 + 11
EXHIBITION: leeds city museum, Brodrick Hall is very central and provides easy access as well as disabled facilities. This would be the space to showcase the artworks made by the students. Tourist attraction.
The transversable route would be best to allow wheelchair access and can view the artwork all around. It is the most ideal setup for deaf students as they are able to visually communicate with each other (the table set up)
For ticketing, its closed off so people wouldn't see into exhibition for free.

SLIDE 12 + 13
LOGISTICS: need to account for transport since the location is off the city-center. We took in consideration of First Aid and any risk assessments since we are working with people and it is a practical workshop. (we are legally responsible for them as they are in our care.)
We’ve also included extra/unaccounted for costs a sign language translator as there might be students who need them and DBS Checks.

SLIDE 14 + 15
Main source of promotion
18-34 year olds are most likely to follow a brand (95%)
NETWORKING: There is potential for collaborations with other charities and specialist schools, which could help cover the cost of funding as well provide more exposure for our collective.

SLIDE 16
SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE: In this day and age it is important to establish a social media presence. It is a way for us to expose our services to the public and acts as the initial point of engagement with potential students --> 40x more likely to be shared.
We would focus on the work made rather than the templates

SLIDE 17 + 22
BRANDING: We used bright colours and kept the page simple and cohesive so that it will be easy to navigate through. The bright colours correspond to how lively and interactive out program will be.
